Doubles & Singles underway
Dilsaver leads two events for women
Mondo Calderon and Anita Dilsaver have the early singles leads in the open and ladies’ divisions, respectively in Bowling Green Bowling Association City Tournaments.
Richard Koontz and Roger Pierstorff are the early doubles leaders for the open division; while Dilsaver and Melissa DeSmith lead the ladies doubles.
Calderon had games of 223, 233 and 247 for a 703 series and 739 with handicap to sit atop the early leaderboard. Chris Deluca also totaled 703 with his 265 final game and a 727 handicap set. Mike Leese shot 716 actual including a pair of 247 games and has a 725 handicap total for third place. Jay Samelak is fourth at 716; while Lucas Jenne and Mark Wolford, stand tied for fifth at 674.
Completing the top 10 are Roy Naugle, 665; Bill Schumacher, 661; Mike Baker,654 and Yogi Wammes, 651
Dilsaver claimed the singles lead with an excellent 677 series with her high games of 242 and 234. He handicap total is 743. Jennifer Anderson is in second place at 737 with her 211 game and 557 series. Wammes, in addition to her open 651 total shot 722 in her ladies division appearance on the strength of 238 and 212 games for a 656 series. Pancha Melendrez rolled into fourth place at 690 with handicap including games 237 and 225 for 669 series. Fifth is DeSmith at 676.
The remainder of the top 10 are Pat Ruck, 668; Gail Wachter, 665; Angie Iliff, 662; Robin Euler, 661; and Becky Lee, 660.
Dilsaver and DeSmith shot 1,161 actual and 1,365 with their handicap to claim the top spot for the women’s division doubles. Vicki Schumahcer and Yogi Wammes are in second at 1,327. The remainder of the top five are Lori Hutton and Iliff with 1,298 pins; Mary Crumley and Jeri Dingman, 1,290 and Linda Caudill and Marylou Myers 1,287.
Koontz and Pierstorff totaled 1,302 pins actual for a 1,431 with handicap. Roy Naugle and Mike Baker are second at 1,389. Competing the top five are Kenny Crowe and Denver Naugle at1,361; Don Mannix and Mike Leese with 1,360; and John Ferrera and Chris Deluca at 1,352.
The tournament continues through Sunday at Al-Mar Lanes. Those looking to bowl should call the center at 419-352-4637 to reserve a time to enter.
Surviving the Game
In Week 6 of Al-Mar’s Surviving the game three American League bowlers were eliminated. They were Kurt Wood with 117 pins under average, Chuck Close, 100 and Dave Sanchez, 65. Joining them were Nate Grames =62 in the Randy Miller league and Mary Crumley in the Ladies Major at -58.
Holiday thoughts
Al-Mar is making plans for holiday fun. Starting Tuesday, (Dec. 12) the bowling center is featuring the “12 Days of Christmas deals.” The first six days of specials are Dec. 12 — Free shoe rental; Dec. 13 and Dec. 17– Donate a canned good receive a free game of bowling (limit 1 per person) \; Dec. 14 — BOGO for one free game; Dec. 14 — Load $100 onto your rewards card, they will add an additional $20; Dec. 16 — $10 off a paid reservation for the New Year’s Eve party package. ** Speaking of the New Year’s Eve Party for $69.99 per lane with a paid reservation by Dec. 23, Each part of up to six bowlers per lane will receive party favors, prizes shoe rental one 16-inch one item pizza and a pitcher of soft drinks. League bowlers and loyal patron members receive $10 off that price. Party times for the specials are 10 a.m. to noon. 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.; 3-5 p.m.; 5:30-7:30 p.m. 8-10 p.m.; and 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
** Also on New Year’s Eve is the annual Pot of Gold with bowling starting at 9 p.m. Check=in starts at 8:30 p.m. This event features three games of bowling, colored pin money shots, jackpots, brackets, party favors and champagne at midnight. Along with one “Super Sampler” appetizer platter. One per lane. Cost is $35 per bowler if paid by Dec. 23; $40 per bowler at the door. Reservations are strongly recommended for all parties.
** There will also be holiday specials in the pro shop on balls, bags, shoes, etc. There are also specials on Al-Mar bowling towels and it is also a great place to shop for stocking stuffers for your favorite bowler such as bowler’s tape, new grips and gift cards to name just a few. Maybe give a gift certificate of lessons to improve the bowler on your gift list something they may not buy for themselves.

With all the other news, we will breeze through the leagues this week by omitting the team standings which can be found on LeagueSecretary.com
Rally’s Junior All Stars: Connor Main had the high series of 330 and Benito Baldonado the high game of 131. For the girls it was Kyleigh Leu high with 78 for a 216 series.
Bobcat 2-a-Days: Avery Latta topped the boys again with his 205 for 567 James Alfaro had a 200 and 532.. Leading the girls was high with her 165 and 441. Jena Kirian had a 154 and 520.
Mixed Up Guys and Gals: Roger Pierstorff came within one pin of perfection rolling a 299 game for a fine 758 series. Richard Koontz shot a 246 and 634. For the women Tonia Bair had the high game of 180 and Treasa Hiler had the high series of 484.
Jack & Jill: Lucas Jenne led the league with his 267 and 749. Kirk Starkey also shot a 267 game and Gene Van De Velede had a 652 series and Steven Hoodlebrink shot 651. For the women Robin Starkey led with her 214 and 597 Cindy St. Peter bowled a 208 for 521.
Randy Miller Memorial: Rusty Henderson, Kyle Waynick and Bill Wammes each had a 258 game; Kris Kolk shot 257 and Jeff Sayre 256. For the 4-game series Waynick had 929; Sayre, 891 and Wammes 871. Shaun Crusa had 859
VTech 2nd Shifters: Joey Burciaga led with his 225 and 586; Wes Wint had a 539 series and Derick Cordes had a 212 game Bobby Roby had a 211. For the women Destiny Middlebrooks was the only one to bowl. She was thus high with her 130 for 294.
Fantasy Doubles: Deluca-Jenne had the high team game with 477; while Wammes-Wammes had a 474 for a 1,318 total. Steinman-Sanchez had a 463 and was second high at 1,295. Steinman-Steinman shot 1,276.
Eagles: Brian Close led the league with 260 and a 744 set. Gary Wachter had a 714 series; while Ron Steinman and Doug Trumbull each had 259 games.
Farm League: Paul Klockowski led with his 247 and 708. Justin Overhulse bowled a 244 in his 668 set.
American: Ron Steinman had the lone 700 with his 709. Brad Simon had the high game of 286 for a 694. Kyle Waynick had a 269 game and Kurt Wood a 267. Steve Herber had an outstanding 837 handicap series.
Elks: Terry Leek led the league with his 269 for 699. Mike Leese and Dave Horine both had 257 games, Horine turning his into a 679 series. Kyle Waynick was second high with his 686. For the women, Violet Courtney had the high game of 234. Same Wiley shot 222 and the high series of 584. Mallory Fritz had a 562.
Ladies Major was led by Anita Dilsaver at 624 and Pancha Melendrez with her 614. Melissa DeSmith had the high game of 235 with Sandy Naugle recording a 232 game and Pat Ruck a 223.
