Joe Blair
George J. "Joe" Blair, 85, of Bowling Green, died Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Blakely Care Center. He was born September 22, 1923 in Bowling Green to George J. and Nina "Blanche" (Artz) Blair. He married Mabel "Louise" Murray in 1942 and she died in 1970. He then married Helen "Pauline" Blair on November 26, 1970 and she survives.

Joe worked at Henry filters as a shear and brake operator. Following retirement he was employed at Al-Mar Lanes for ten years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War 2 and was a member of American Legion Post #441 in Tontogany, Life member of Elk's Lodge #818. He was an avid bowler and member of the Bowling Green Men's Bowling Hall of Fame.

Also surviving are sons, Michael K. and Timothy K. Blair of Bowling Green, Step-son, Robert L. Davis of Bowling Green; Step-daughters, Cathleen Sharik and Laureen Davis, both of Naugatuck, CT. There are twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jolynn L. Wolfe, brothers, Richard and Vernon and sister, Helen "Betty" Brown.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Dunn Funeral Home, 408 W. Wooster St. in Bowling Green. Rev. Dan Horner will officiate. Burial will follow at Plain Township Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour previous to the service on Tuesday morning at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Wood County Unit of the American Cancer Society or charity of the donor's choice.
