Surviving the Game
The game will start the week of November 17-30, 2008 and continue until a champion has been crowned.
To be a part of the game you must be a regular league bowler at Al-Mar Lanes and you will have to designate which league you will be using your scores to participate in the game (you may enter once for each league you are a regular member). Once the game starts you will be using only the scores from the league that you chose.
The total cost to play this game will be $5.00 (all entries must be paid prior to start of play with a cut off date of November 16, 2008 to participate).
Your average in the league you participate in will be used. You must have at least 21 games in the league that you are using for scores. If you do not have at least 21 games in the league you are using you must use an average of 225 until you have 21 games in the league that you will be using.
The object of this game is to survive elimination. Every two weeks the person(s) bowling the most pins below their average (total pins) will be eliminated from the game. Your plus or minus for each of the two weeks in a round will be added together to determine your plus or minus for that two week period. (Example if you are plus 75 for one week and minus 125 for the other week your combined total will be minus 50 for that two week period). In the event there is a tie or ties for the person(s) eliminated we will revert back to the previous two week’s scores for the people involved and the person(s) with the most pins below their average for that two weeks will be eliminated from the game. If this occurs the first two weeks of the game all people involved in a tie will advance. When all bowlers score above their average for two weeks the bowler(s) with the least amount of pins above their average will be eliminated. The last two weeks of competition will be the seventh two week period. Payoff will be determined by most over gets the most prize money and most under gets the least prize money.
In the event you are absent from any week of bowling and are still in the game you will use minus ten pins per game for your scores so you will be minus thirty pins for that week. If you are absent in consecutive weeks for any reason your minus pins will be increased by five per game each week (minus 15 per game the second week, minus 20 per game the third week, etc). Anyone who becomes more than one week in arrears in league fees will be eliminated. If you quit bowling in the league you signed up in you will be eliminated the following two week period. If you survive you are still in the game. Pre bowled or post bowled games count as well as long as the post bowled games are completed within the same week being contested. No pre bowls or post bowls will count unless bowled as part of an entire team pre bowl or post bowl. In all leagues the first three games count for your score.
Every two weeks half the field will be eliminated. For example if we have 96 entries, 48 bowlers will be eliminated after two weeks (your plus or minus will be added together for both weeks to determine your overall plus or minus). The following two weeks 24 more bowlers would be eliminated. The next two weeks 12 bowlers would be eliminated. Then six bowlers would be eliminated and then three more the following two weeks. Now it would be down to three bowlers and the scores for that two week period would determine the champion. In the case where the cut would leave an odd number of bowlers we will round up if necessary. In the event two bowlers are tied for the cut spot both would remain if it meant putting the number of players for the next round at an even number.
Payoffs will be calculated on total number of entries with dollar amounts to be determined by number of entries. All bowlers eliminated in the first cut will not receive any prize money. If you survive the first cut you will be in line to receive prize money and that will depend on how far you go in the competition. Bowlers eliminated in the second cut will receive 10% of the total prize money divided equally. Bowlers eliminated in the third cut will receive 10% of the total prize money divided equally. Bowlers eliminated in the fourth cut will receive 20% of the total prize money divided equally. Bowlers eliminated in the fifth cut will receive 20% of the total prize money divided equally. The remaining bowlers will receive the remaining 40% of the total prize money with the winner receiving at least 50% of the prize money left (this will be calculated exactly once we know how many total entries we have).
In the event any dispute arises it will be handled in the fairest manner for all concerned by the Al-Mar Lanes game manager.
